Rosa Gaytán

Born in the city of Aguascalientes, she is a teacher of Mexican art and dance. She immigrated to the United States in 1992 and since then she has been involved in non-profit organizations such as Centro San Bonifacio, Erie House, Logan Square Neighborhood Association and most importantly the Binational Institute of Human Development in which she has been part of the board of directors and currently part of the group of workers. She also worked at Salmon P Chase Elementary School as the community outreach and liaison between parents creating educational classes for them after school hours.  She has also had the opportunity to own a delivery area for the Chicago Tribune newspaper in Illinois.

 

She is part of the Mexican cultural movement in the United States as well as the immigrant advocacy. For the past 8 years she has been an assistant State Representative for the 24th district in which the majority of the constituents are Hispanic.
